While reading this verse I immediately thought of the contrast between this verse and the sons of Eli from our reading this week.
The sons of Eli led a short life because they did not observe the commands of God in their hearts. But we, as Gods priests, are meant to store up the life giving Word of God in our hearts. We are meant to open up our hearts to receive His word and let that Word produce something good inside of us.

God’s Word is so powerful that it brings life to your innermost being. To follow Gods Word is to follow the path of life, life to your soul and life to your body. It brings peace where there was once turmoil and prosperity where there was once poverty.
Let us today open up the gates of our hearts and allow the Word of God in. Let us store up His Word in our heart and allow it to lead us each day.
