Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.2 Corinthians 1:21‭-‬22

Church,
We all have heard the second part of this verse about what God’s Spirit guarantees in us but today I was struck by the first half while reading. Yes, the Spirit does guarantee what is to come but God did all of that so that we can stand firm in Christ now. This promise is not only one for the future but one for the present. He anointed us, set His seal on us and gave us His spirit that we would stand firm in Christ now. And after a life of standing firm in Christ we would enter into the kingdom of God as sons and daughters of the most high.

Today, let us be encouraged to stand firm in Christ. To stand in his ways and in his laws. To stand in his goodness and in his love. For God made the way for us to be strong and steadfast so let us do so standing for His name.
