The world is full of people who have no choices in their actions but are bound to be “slaves to sin”. All of us can remember what that was like as we were once there. But Christ came to break slavery and bring us into sonship.

Christ came and suffered on the cross so that you could be a son! We do not seek the Father because of rules; we seek the father because we have been adopted in love and we want to be close to our Father. We do not restrain from sin because its bad, we do not sin because it brings us farther away from our Father whom we love.

“ For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome”

They are not burdensome because they keep us next to the Father whom sent His son to die for us so that we could be adopted into the family of God. This is love for God, keeping his commandments so that we will not be separated from the Father whom we love.
