Perseverance is a concept that is widely spoken about throughout this world. The media is full of stories of perseverance. People flock to the movies to watch an inspiring film about someone persevering through a trial. Music is filled with lyrics about persevering and overcoming trials and influences.

But as Pastor Janeth taught us on Thursday, the perseverance spoken about in this verse doesn’t hinge on self. It is not a matter of will or self-reliance. God calls us to persevere in the Word. When a desire arises we are to bring forth the Word to cut down the desire. When an argument comes forth against Gods person we bring forth the Word to overcome.

God’s Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. It continually pushes us forward, persevering through trials and overcoming adversity. It is the sword that cuts through the web of sin and sees us out the other side.

Thank you Lord that we can persevere through any trial through your Word.
