Look! The Lamb of God!
John 1:29
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
Church,
I love the story of John the Baptist and how he was preparing the way for Jesus Christ. John was counter cultural, he went against the “Normal” ways of doing things. The Bible describes him as a wild man who wore clothes made from camel hair and ate locusts and wild honey.
The Pharisees must have saw this wild man in the river baptizing people and speaking about a God to come. Who would follow such a man when the Pharisees were educated and well dressed and following the traditions passed down for generations?
Yet John went against the “normal” way of doing things. His concern was not what was proper or accepted, his concern was preparing the way for the Son of God to come and take away sin.
We must be like John, not concerned with what the world says is OK but having our eyes fixed on the one to come. Making the way ready for the King of Kings and proclaiming who He is and what He has done. We are the ones who are putting aside the world’s norms and embracing the Law of God.
Thank you Jesus Christ who came to fulfill the law and to take away sin!
Amen,
Kris
