You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ1 Peter 2:5

This verse describes us as “Living Stones” who are being built up into a house. We are built on top of the rock, the chief cornerstone, Jesus Christ. This house we are being built into is His precious church, a holy priesthood who presents spiritual sacrifices to the Father through Jesus Christ.

This Holy Priesthood that we are being built into shares many things with the priesthood of the old testament.

Sacrifice – Just as the old priesthood offered sacrifices, we offer sacrifices of worship, praise and devoted lives that are pleasing to God

Prayers – The old testament priesthood constantly offered up prayers to the Father. Our prayers are powerful and go up to reach the Fathers ears and impact our surroundings

Robes – The priests of the old testament had special robes they wore, we too have special spiritual robes that have been washed clean from any stain or blemish by the blood of Jesus Christ.

His Glory – Those priests were the only ones to come into contact with the presence and glory of God. We as part of His Holy Priesthood get to encounter the presence and glory of God throughout every day of our lives

We are the new priesthood built upon Jesus Christ. May our prayers and worship be powerful and may they reach the heavens and be pleasing to the Fathers ear.
