Heavenly Minded

I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.Ephesians 3:7
United Faith Church,

When I first read this verse I was stricken by the difference between Paul’s attitude in his writing and the circumstance he was in when he wrote it. If you read just the verse, he speaks about how he has become a servant of God and how it was given to him as a gift by God’s grace. He sounds like he is enthused and counts himself blessed to be given this opportunity of servanthood. But we know that Paul was writing this letter from a jail cell. He was imprisoned, beaten and starving yet you would never know it from his writing in Ephesians.

Paul speaks about God’s grace and power but from the outside it is hard to see. Paul was speaking from a higher place; his mindset was not behind bars but with Christ in the heavenly realms. For the Christian, our circumstance does not hold us down for Gods spirit will always be greater and will overcome. Things may get rocky in the flesh but in the spirit we are set high above it. Our minds are not set on our earthly surroundings but we, like Paul, are speaking from our Spirit which has been redeemed, transformed and transferred into the heavens.

When you are surrounded by turmoil, sing of Gods peace, for you are at peace with God in your soul!

When the price of food is rising, tell of His provision, for His word is bread and life!

When things look down and bleak, shout out in joy, for our souls have been redeemed!

Thank you Lord that you have set us high and above all earthly things and we are seated with you in the heavenly realms.

Amen,

Kris
