Confidence in Christ
Yes, my soul, find rest in God;United Faith Church,
my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.
This Psalm, written by David, was during one of the most trying times of his life. This Psalm was written when David’s son, Absalom, had begun to betray and rebel against David. Yet in such a trying time, the confidence written in this passage is so evident.
As I was reading this I began to ask myself; What could cause a man to write with such confidence in the face of such adversity and heart ache? The answer is that David is not writing about the confidence he has in himself or his accomplishments but these words were written from an unwavering confidence in God.
We should be the same as we walk through this world. Regardless of what the enemy may try to throw at us, our confidence must remain steadfast in who we know our God to be. Let us not be confident in ourselves less we fall but may we stand on our rock of salvation. When hardships come, have confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ who overcame all sin. When odds are stacked against you, have confidence in Jesus Christ who beat hell, death and the grave on the cross. When the enemy is on your doorstep, have confidence in our Strong Fortress who will never be overcome.
Praise God that we can have confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ who has already claimed victory over all things!
Amen,
Kris
