You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.Matthew 5:14

When I first read this verse I immediately started thinking about Jesus on the cross. Picturing that, “city on a hill” reminded me of Jesus being brought up a high hill and than lifted up high in the air on the cross for all to see. Jesus allowed himself to be brought up that hill and raised up on that cross to be on display. The enemy thought it was to display His shame but Jesus Christ knew it was a display of His victory.

Now we, reborn by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, are also being raised up and shown to the world. We are built upon Jesus Christ, our rock, who had victory over all things including death and the grave. We carry that Spirit with us; we are the light of the world! And as Jesus was raised up for the world to see, we too are raised up for all the world to see.

Let us walk as children of light and let the world see our light and give glory to the Father.

“¹⁶ In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
