Hello and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. Just thinking of a very simple question that the Lord brought to mind today that we can all ask ourselves. The question is, "Are you blessed?"

"What is a blessing?"

What does it mean to be blessed? What is a blessing? When we think about that, we know all throughout the word in the Old Testament and New Testament, of so many stories of men and women being blessed, having many blessings. We know that men and women have blessed each other. We even see man blessing God, and what an incredible thing to see those examples in the Word and see it in our lives. But we want to really understand what a blessing truly is. What is it rooted in?

The verse that I had woken up to this morning was Psalms 94 verse 12, and it says simply, “Blessed is the one you discipline, the one who you teach from your Word.”

"His Word is what instructs every decision we make."

This is what it means to be blessed. It means to be disciplined by God, meaning that we have His Word and His Word is what instructs every decision we make. It instructs every move that we make. Our thought process, everything, is guided and rooted in the Word of The Lord, and only God can do this. Only God can open up a man or woman’s heart to truly have the Word of God come alive in that heart and now be demonstrated in their lives. And we thank God today to understand what a blessing truly is.

We now think of all those in the scriptures that were blessed. They were simply men and women who were given the Word of The Lord, they carried it deep within their souls, and their lives were blessed to carry that Word as it was activated and brought forward. And that is truly the blessing—the Word coming alive, the living Word of God, Jesus Himself, the living Word.

"Blessed is the one you discipline..."

So, as we think of today, as we think of our plans, as we walk about our lives and prepare our days, or as we’re already in our day, will we stop to say, ‘You know what, am I walking in the true blessing of God?’ Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord, the one you teach from your law. We know that the law is the Word.

"...able to bring us closer to God, able to keep us out of the darkness..."

So, I pray today that God would activate His Word in each one of our lives. As we come into the scriptures, into the Holy scriptures that He’s given, that they would be the very direction—the very thing that we stamp and we get our approval from—the Word of God, alive and active in our lives, able to bring us close to God, able to keep us out of the darkness and in the light.
